Instructions:
Hand out one bingo card to each student. Make sure everyone has a different card.
Draw the pictures one by one from a container or hat. As each picture is drawn, call out the name of the image. If they are beginners, you can also show the picture to the students.
If a student has the corresponding image on their bingo card, they should cover it up with a marker or a small object, such as a button or a coin.
The first student to cover all the images should call out "Bingo!" and be declared the winner. You can customise the winning combinations to fit the theme and difficulty level of your bingo game. Here are some additional possible winning combinations for a bingo game:
- One line: The player covers all the numbers in one horizontal line on their bingo card.
- Two lines: The player covers all the numbers in two horizontal lines on their bingo card.
- Full house: The player covers all the numbers on their bingo card.
- Four corners: The player covers the four corner squares of their bingo card.
- X shape: The player covers the numbers in an X shape on their bingo card.
- Picture frame: The player covers all the squares around the edge of their bingo card, creating a "picture frame."
To reinforce vocabulary, give the students the opportunity to pull out the pictures and say out loud the name of the concept when the picture is called.
To continue playing, shuffle the pictures and start again.
Note: You can customise the game to make it more challenging by requiring students to make a sentence or story using the word represented by the picture before they can cover it up on their bingo card. You can also add more pictures and/or cards to the game to make it last longer or to accommodate more players.
